TBRPC Executive Director Selected for Statewide Leadership Role

Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council Executive Sean Sullivan to lead the Executive Director Council for Florida Regional Councils Association

Sean Sullivan, executive director of the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, will serve as chair of the Executive Directors Council of the Florida Regional Councils Association in 2021. The association works to facilitate regional collaboration among councils that are working with municipalities to plan for growth throughout the state.

The Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council is one of 10 regional planning councils in Florida that participate in the Florida Regional Councils Association. Through its membership, the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council works collaboratively with other regions to support economic growth, improve infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for all Floridians.

“We’re pleased to see Sean take a leadership role at the statewide level,” said Patrick Roff, chair of the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council and a member of Bradenton City Council. “It’s important to work cooperatively with other Florida regions when addressing common challenges like resiliency, sea level rise, emergency preparedness and transportation.”

Sullivan has been executive director of the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council since 2016, and he’s been active in the Florida Regional Councils Association for nearly 5 years. In this volunteer role, he works alongside other executive directors to address current challenges that face Florida, to include determining the economic impact of Covid-19 and participating in development of a statewide evacuation plan.

Sullivan will also be working to further resiliency efforts through his work with the Tampa Bay Regional Resiliency Coalition.
