Tampa Bay Disaster Recovery Grants Coordinator
The Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, with funding support from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration, enhances disaster recovery efforts by coordinating local governments, economic development organizations, and individual businesses throughout the Tampa Bay region.
The Tampa Bay Disaster Recovery Grants Coordinator provides direct assistance in navigating and accessing the numerous resources available from multiple agencies that can aid in recovery and resilience activities and offers presentations that discuss the economic impacts of a disaster on small businesses as well as useful practices that organizations can implement to help prepare for a disaster event.
Federal Disaster Recovery and Mitigation Funding
The Recovery Resource Roadmap is a federal interagency collaborative effort to provide a tool for state, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) partners navigating the complex post-disaster funding landscape.

Federal and State contacts help stakeholders connect disaster recovery needs to projects and resources, including funds, equipment, housing and business refurbishment and mitigation, and career and workforce development.
Disaster Recovery Resources
Please share ideas for economic recovery and resiliency projects by submitting a Project Summary Sheet to the Tampa Bay Disaster Recovery Coordinator. Project summaries will be shared with the TBRPC and relevant federal and state partners for follow-up as appropriate funding arises.

- Support for local government and nonprofit organizations in utilizing schema data.
- Focus on enhancing strategic coordination of recovery resources for survivor housing outcomes.
- Coordination with MARAD, Region 4 FM FHC, and collaboration with partners like Afghanistan.
- Future training calendar includes long-term recovery groups, Volunteer Florida webinar, Emergency Manager Type Training, and nonprofit conferences.
- Rebuilding Resiliency Resources Working Group (Triple R):

- Collaboration with the Federal Alliance for Safer Homes (Flash) and other partners.
- Working on creating resources for communities impacted by disasters.
- Two phases of deliverables are being developed with feedback from local communities.
- Exploration of case studies, including the State of Texas.
- Emergency Management Preparedness and Planning Working Group:

- Target audience: local emergency managers.
- Support for preparedness initiatives and planning for potential impacts to residential areas.
- Primary activities include brainstorming sheltering options, bridging gaps between Emergency Management and the local Housing Authority, building capacity at the local level, and information sharing on best practices.
Join the Tampa Bay Regional Resiliency Coalition!
- In 2018, the Tampa Bay Regional Resiliency Coalition (The Coalition) formed to coordinate climate adaptation and mitigation activities across county lines, to advance local and regional responses to and preparations for economic and social disruption projected to result from sea-level rise, and to provide state and local agencies with access to technical assistance and support in addressing the effects of climate change.
Business Continuity Resources
Project Phoenix: The Recovery is a facilitated training exercise that examines critical issues and capabilities of Tampa Bay area small businesses and emergency management agencies during disaster recovery. A series of videos supplement the exercise; illustrating a simulated Category 5 hurricane hitting Tampa Bay paralleled with lessons learned and words of advice from small business owners impacted by Hurricane Michael in 2018 in Mexico Beach, Florida and Hurricanes Idalia and Milton in 2024 in the Tampa Bay region.
All-Hazards Disaster Planning Guide
For over 30 years, the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council has designed an All-Hazards Disaster Planning Guide that provides hurricane evacuation maps and preparedness information for hazards including hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, hazardous materials incidents, and pandemic disease.
Printed copies are available in participating counties. For a list of pick-up locations, or if you need assistance in locating your zone, evacuation route, or evacuation shelter, please contact your county’s Emergency Management office.
