The Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council (TBRPC) wants to remind our member governments that we offer the following technical assistance services to support Emergency Management and Mitigation.
Emergency Management
Since 1978, the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council (TBRPC) has supported regional emergency management. While not a direct responder, TBRPC coordinates with local, regional, and state partners to aid in emergency response and recovery.
2024 Hurricane Season recap:
On December 2, 2024, the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council (TBRPC) and the University of South Florida (USF) hosted the Regional Debby, Helene, and Milton: Hurricane Impacts and Recovery Session. The final report from the session includes unexpected challenges, successes and future opportunities for the region to strengthen its resilience, preparedness, response and short and long-term recovery to disasters. Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS):
TBRPC conducts LMS plan updates and provides technical assistance to LMS Work Groups (LMSWG)
Vulnerability Assessments (VAs) Florida Resilient Grant Program
The TBRPC conducts Vulnerability Assessments and provides technical assistance to help ensure VAs are compliant with F.S. 380.93.
Community Rating System (CRS)
TBRPC conducts and provides technical assistance for CRS Reverifications and annual recertification.
Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC)
Since 1988, TBRPC has facilitated the Tampa Bay Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC). The LEPC coordinates multi-jurisdictional full-scale, functional, or tabletop hazmat exercises annually. TBRPC is also responsible for assisting facilities to comply with the Florida Accidental Release Prevention and Risk Management Planning Act (ARP/RMP) of 1999.
Disaster Recovery Grants Coordinator
The Tampa Bay Disaster Recovery Grants Coordinator provides direct assistance in navigating and accessing the numerous resources available from multiple agencies that can aid in recovery and resilience activities and offers presentations that discuss the economic impacts of a disaster on small businesses as well as useful practices that organizations can implement to help prepare for a disaster event.
