TBRPC partnered with the Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council (SWFRPC) to help build the Southwest Florida Resiliency Hub, a public site sharing the Southwest Florida region’s resilience data, maps, tools, and collaborative efforts. The work supports SWFRPC’s 2024 Regional Resilience Entity grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Resilient Florida Program.
StoryMap Development
TBRPC developed a custom ArcGIS StoryMap for the Hub, organizing SWFRPC’s resilience work into a guided experience for local governments, partners, and residents. The Risk Assessment page uses interactive maps and apps to show where the region is most vulnerable, while open GIS data puts the underlying layers in the hands of local staff and partners. The Resilience Collaborative connects experts across the region, the Project Progress Tracker lets partners add and follow their own resilience projects, and webinar recordings and event listings keep the Hub current.
Building on that foundation, TBRPC designed and built the Resilient Futures page as a custom web application embedded in the Hub. It shows what nature-based and green stormwater adaptations could look like at four study sites chosen to represent the region’s range of flood risk: Moore Haven, LaBelle, Fort Myers, and Naples.
Each site follows the same layout: the flood risk it faces, a proposed adaptation strategy, and interactive before-and-after sliders that let users drag between current conditions and an adapted future. Clickable markers explain each intervention, from living shorelines to bioswales, and every page cites the local plans its strategies draw from.
Bring These Tools to Your Community
The same approach works for any topic a community needs to share. TBRPC helps local governments build public hubs and custom web applications for comprehensive plan updates, redevelopment and CRA projects, capital improvement programs, corridor studies, and public engagement. Whether you need a single interactive tool or a full site that brings your data, maps, and plans together, we can help from concept through launch.
