Planning for Sea Level Rise and the Peril of Flood
from the Local, Regional, and State Perspective
The Emerald Coast Section for the American Planning Association (APA) hosted the APA Florida Annual Conference from Sept. 10-13, 2019 at the Baytowne Conference Center in Sandestin, FL.
CJ Reynolds, TBRPC Director of Resilience and Engagement, participated in a session that examined coastal resilience planning, particularly in the face of sea level rise, from a variety of perspectives. The panel included researchers from Florida State University, and state planners from the Department of Environmental Protection and from the Department of Economic Opportunity. Findings were presented from a statewide review of comprehensive plan coastal management elements and a statewide survey, as well as insights from the state and regional perspectives about building capacity to address sea level rise and respond to the Peril Flood Act.
